You might look at the early issues of the journal Camera Obscura back when
they still were interested in such questions. They wrote extensively on
advanced feminist film such as Akerman, Rainer, Duras et al. Check also
work on Babette Mangolte in those issues. An important filmmaker of that
period, she was also Akerman's, Rainer's, Potter's, Joan Jonas' et
al.cinematographer--she shot Jeanne Dielmann. Mangolte also teaches cinema
at UC San Diego. You could contact her there. I'm sure she would have much
to say about such issues as her recent work has been on landscape.
