Hello all. As a new member to this list, just thought I'd let you know that
I'm a recent graduate (M.F.A.) from Rutgers University and live in Brooklyn,
NY.

Anyway, for a slightly different take on the issues of gaze, gender, and
sexwork, I suggest Ma'sud Zavarzadeh's "Seeing Films Politically" (SUNY
Press; 1991; esp. chapters 2 and 7). The entire book is quite amazing in its
searing Marxist critique of poststructuralist film theory, but his particular
analysis of labor as the primary mode constructing gender, culture, etc;
might prove useful to you.

Good luck!
