Sarahjane, a couple of years ago _Social Text_ came out with a special issue on
sex workers. It's an extraordinary collection of scholarly articles, photos, a
and interviews with sex industry workers of all varieties.

Susan Faludi had an essay about two years ago as well on women and porn movies
that turns the tables on much kneejerk commentary, e.g. women increasingly
dictate the terms and conditions of their appearances and roles, are "stronger"
(esp. economically) than their male stud counterparts, etc. That article was i
in the _New Yorker._

Rhona Berenstein's lesbian read of horror I have found useful in my film
courses (history, theory, and also "men and masculinities in Hollywood films
since the 1950s"). Her essay on "spectatorship as drag" can be found in
Linda Williams, ed., _Viewing Positions_, although her book (which I've not yet
had a chance to get) is now out. Supplement her stuff with Carol Clover's
in various essays and book _Men, Women, and Chainsaws_. _The Lesbian Postmoder
n_ is a good anthology worth reading, period; it also has materials pertinent
to your topic, which sounds nifty.

Best wishes,
