Subject: RE: cinematic space and gende

miriam hansen's work on valentino and early movie AUDIENCES could be an
interesting perspective on the problem from a post-frankfurt school
perspective. jonathan crary's book "techniques of the observer" does
a lot of interesting and stimulating damage to many notions of the
relationship between cinematic space and renaissance perspective that had
been such a predominant model in film studies for many years (e.g. heath's
'narrative space' or baudry's 'apparatus').
