The Department of English is seeking candidates for the following
tenure-track position, beginning August 1998:

Associate Professor in Literary and Cultural Theory

We require a primary commitment to teaching, publication, and directing
research in one or more of the following broadly defined areas: theory and 
history of criticism; gender studies; postcolonial studies; queer studies;
visual culture.

Screening of applications begins November 1 and continues until
the position is filled. Possible MLA interviews.
Salaries competitive. Teaching load four courses per academic year. Send
