     if anything that has a beginning, a middle,
     and an end must thereby  be seen as having
     a three act structure, then i suppose three
     act structures are all that we can ever hope for . . .

     but doesn't that just deflect the question one
     step back to where we have to start theorizing
     all over again about what exactly what might
     count as an "act"  . . . and then we of
     course once again have plenty of wiggle room
