Nothing's wrong if one assumes other's rights to choose.

What's "worthwhile"? - I heard the playwright, Albee, say on TV, that a
thousand people can watch a single performance and see a thousand different
plays.

So who is the artist/presenter and who's the audience? "Mainstream"
audiences include practically everyone whose taste and choice is shaped by
the media. The $7 billion movie
industry fashions its productions to please the largest possible number of
movie-goers and increase its profits. It can't be worse than daytime TV.

Best movies do not seem to have mass-appeal, but there are
notable exceptions like "Gone With the Wind", which was enjoyable, or
"Titanic", which was problematic.
