I'm not sure how relevant Linda McCartney is to a discussion of the purpose
of a film-theory listserv, and defining "great filmmakers" and "real
artists" is a can of worms I don't want to open right now.
However, this listserv, like many, isn't rigidly policed, and if people want
to talk about how much they would or wouldn't pay to see the latest Coen
brothers movie, that's fine by me.

To the offended party...think of it as small talk.
