Lynch" <lynchr-AT-wabash.edu> Subject: Re: Essential works, vol 3 > From: Sean Hill <smh-AT-anet.net> > Can anyone tell me the contents of Foucault: Essential Works, vol. 3? There are 30 articles in the 3rd volume, of which 12 appear in part or in whole for the first time in English. (Many of these new translations are very short, ephemeral pieces, but one is quite important: "Truth and juridical forms" is a translation of 5 lectures Foucault gave in Brazil in 1974, of which only one lecture had previously been available in English. In the French, however, there is a transcript of a roundtable discussion that remains untranslated. These 1974 Brazil lectures are closely related to Foucault's first year's (1971) lectures at the College de France.) I'm not going to list the contents, but I will give the corresponding numbers of the texts in Dits et Ecrits. Asterisks (*) indicate a new text in English. These are listed in the order that they appear in Essential Works volume 3: 139*, 168, 189, 192, 196*, 198, 220, 239, 278, 281, 291, 306, 310, 325, 346, 353, 364, 114*, 128*, 214*, 240*, 246*, 265*, 266, 269, 296, 300*, 301*, 321*, 355* As time permits, these references will be added to my bibliography of Foucault's shorter works in English, which can be consulted at: http://www.qut.edu.au/edu/cpol/foucault/lynch.html In the meantime, I hope this is helpful.
