Hi Kathy,

For me, Foucault gave me the courage, if not "permission" at the time, to
challenge hardened assumptions *anywhere* (especially in myself) in my own
ways, often with his help, often with the help of others. He taught me to
say "it's more complicated than that" and "the debate isn't actually ended"
and what Deleuze once noted in his work, the lesson of the indignity of
speaking for others.
