But I'm a southerner, and never appreciate rude behavior. Fankly I find it counterproductive, creates noise where there could be "harmony." If he's that good, let's see it. We alreade=y have waht I take this to think of as more appropriate questions to consider. I just happen to prefer my philosphy on the imaginative/specualtive side, and I'm lit. crit./poet type anyway -- I ask different questions. As to the Question: is the discourse of the negative dialectic a dazzling magic wand? I say, only in the hands of those who feel a need to impress. Or befuddle. Marcuse, Adnorno, et. al. are interested in impressing, but geting an analysis on the table in a form appropriate to the complexity and urgency of that analysis. A general impression, I agree, and still not rigorous -- but that would be because I'm not grounded in these men's work, but exploring it for the first time. Thanks for the warning about Ralph's acting out. m Meaghan Roberts-Jones | ... for never will [we] be able Ph.D. Candidate - Humanities | to quench a longing which is Lit.&Fem.Philos. | eternally regenerated out of University of Texas-Dallas | the abundance of gratifications.
