Matt,
...for sport, eh?

"Good greed" is the classical ethos of capital (calvin/mandeville), ..."sufficiency," the "each according to his needs etc." of marx, no? Today the former is, of course, the alpha and omega of harvard/wharton/stanford,...; the corporate managerial caste matriculated therefrom is the ruling elite; and so, with the result that we're culturally saturated with the gospel of greed, their class theodicy. But, while it is the marginal effect, isn't it as culturally superficial as numerically marginal? Everyman fantasizes great wealth; but, once arrived to an average material standard, is essentially economically inert . Whilest at t'othr end of the bell-curve, greed-heads are balanced by idealists, capable of an as heroic asceticism.

Even after so long and continuous and intensive a course of Liberal deconstruction of Tradition, a Tom Wolfe's Man in Full, vicious and destructive in pursuit of wealth, is saved by Epictetus, ...an Ayn Rand's Atlas, indifferent to his own wealth, is destroyed by a caste of greedy drones. Like the S&L's a decade ago, and insider trading befor that, the current spate of scandals, despite all the marketing of all the collossal philanthropies of mike milken, bill gates, ken lay, & co., ...and independent of all ressentiment, continually re-inforces the more elemental notion that wealth is theft or swindle, ...greed, anal.

So, while i can only speak for america, i'd guess yer nouveau right wouldn't find sufficient adherents to qualify for universal. And on t'other hand, than "sufficiency", what more unexceptionable?

whaddaya say, Matt?...irony aside now.

bob

P.S. spose you been following the blog,...things seem to be taking an exceptionally rosey turn, eh? appears the non-energy (non-19th c.) faction of the Forbes 1000, thru NYT, Al Gore, ...and now Daschle & Gephardt, tho emphatically not Dennis Kucinich (my neck of the woods), has decided the economy (greed) is really not going to be righted by market providence and that the bush team's notion of war of digression, worse than immoral, is stupid.
