Dear Elizabeth and Helen

in addition to Kristins recommendations;

an introductory text;

SEXUAL/TEXTUAL POLITICS Toril Moi Basil & Blackwell Press
This gives basic introductions to Cixous, Irigaray and Kristeva. Its
useful, though I'm beginning to think its rather generous to the
latter who frequently seems to be privileged above the others.

I seem to recall that Toril Moi has also written a good book on the
context of Feminism in France: vastly different to the UK/US.

THE KRISTEVA READER Ed T. Moi B & B publishers I think
She is extremely difficult in places, but important in the field.

NEW FRENCH FEMINISMS Eds Marks & de Courtivron Harvester & Wheatsheaf
An anthology with lots of small essays and extracts. Very good for
expanding the picture beyond the 3 writers mentioned above.

If you are interested in FF's relation to film theory I recommend

THE ACOUSTIC MIRROR; THE FEMALE VOICE IN PSYCHONANALYSIS & FILM
THEORY Kaja Silverman Indiana? UP 1988

Best of luck
