Subject: Re: contexts for French feminism

For those of us who are mucking about in french-feminism but are still
developing our "problems" and lines of argumentation as scholars, I think
that Grosz does a great job of demonstrating the art of taking a line of
argument and following it between the works of extremely difficult
authors making clear what is at stake in their differences. Even if one
disagrees with Grosz's reading, she has lucidly located her line of
argument and so one can engage her argument. I'm sure that's why I
suggested her when the question of french feminism was raised. I also
wanted to say that I appreciate the caliber of scholars on the list such
that others could more accurately provide references that better answered
the original request. As Grosz moves toward and away from thinkers like
Deleuze or fields like psychoanalysis I find her concerns to be
refreshing, often iconoclastic, and even though she can sometimes move
her arguments with generalizations, I still think she's a great resource
for those who are in any way struggling with how to engage critically
with the lingo of theory.
