Subject: New Kristeva books; Braidotti interview

Re: Kristeva:

For your interest, Kristeva has just published 2 new books
in French. 1) Sens et non-sens de la revolte. Volume I. Paris: Fayard,
1996. This is a compilation of seminars given at her Paris VII
classes.

2) _Possession_. Paris: Fayard, 1996. This is a murder
mystery novel.

I have not yet read either. I would be interested to hear from someone
who has.

Also, there is a new book coming out by Macmillan Press (due in June
sometime) on Kristeva by Anna Smith (of New Zealand).

And Ross Guberman will shortly be publishing a compilation of Kristeva
interviews on Columbia University Press.

Also, the journal _Paragraph_ is dedicating a forthcoming journal to
Kristeva (based on a symposium held at The Centre for Romance Studies,
University of London). And the journal _Parallax_ is also dedicating a
forthcoming issue to Kristeva (based on the Kristeva: Aesthetics
1966-1996 conference held at the University of Leeds, UK).

Re: Braidotti Interview

Feel free to respond negatively to the Braidotti interview if you like
(concerning me, the interviewer, or Braidotti). Just because I am on the
list does not mean you have to be polite! (Well, be polite, but you
don't have to agree). ( ;

I thought it was very interesting that B attributes much of the
"essentialism" debate to mistranslations. Would people agree?

Also, she is very negative about the progress being made in US Women's
Studies programs. I do not know if this is true or not (since I'm
Canadian and situated in England for the last few years) but I'd be
interested to hear first hand accounts.
