Having just finished reading _Fire with Fire_, I think Wolf was trying to 
show that there are all kinds of reactions to and motives behind the 
adoption of FF, also that there is a perceived gap between it and 
"practice" and that one does HAVE to read Cixous to be a feminist.  
Wolf's project in that book is to point out that woman have a political 
and economic oppurtunity in the US (after the Year of the Woman) that 
we've never had in such a way before, and she encouraging us to get the 
our courage up, our strength up, and go to work making the sort of impact 
we've been hoping to.  Given the stakes in the up coming elections, I 
hope lost of people heard her.
