Subject: misrepresented women


I don't know whether I posted to the list generally the title of another
excellent and stimulating book, The Truth about the Virgin, by Ita Sheres &
Anne Kohn Blau, Continuum 1995(?).  On the basis of a thorough re-reading of
the Dead Sea scrolls, they suggest that Mary (or Miriam) was not only a
personal name, but also a title.  I won't spoil the shock and surprise of
their other text-based suggestions--- read it!
