Subject: Zodiac/French Feminism & Postcolonial Studies

I have to agree with recent posts about postings to this list dealing with
zodiac signs etc. I hesitated to do so since I am a new subscriber to this
list; when the first 4 or 5 messages I received had to do with astrology, I
just assumed I had somehow misunderstood the purpose of this list and
prepared to desubscribe. But I would certainly be interested in staying with
the list if french feminism is back on the agenda.

My own recent interest has to do with intersections between French feminism
and post-colonial studies, especially after reading Toril Moi's recent
suggestion that the work of Frantz Fanon was heavily influenced by Simone de
Beauvoir--an influence acknowledged by neither Fanon nor recent post-colonial
work on Fanon. I would be interested in hearing from anyone working on
similar links with post-colonial studies: in addition to the connection
between De Beauvoir and Algeria, I am interested in Cixous's writings on her
childhood in Algeria, Kristeva's writings on China, Spivak's take on French
feminism, etc. You can contact me either through the list or at the email
address below.

Thanks.
