In my observations the list subscribers generally partake of a particularly academic discourse, whilst I think this is often engaging it does exclude a lot of other types of discourse. As an artist with a background in academia who chooses most often to speak/write/think poesis I am very intereseted in the ruptures that may occur from time to time and also encouraged by these glitches in the smooth to participate. >Baynard: >> We are talking about how to maintain a certain kind of >> productivity. here i wonder, like Kenneth, what this certain kind of productivity could be. Obviously it is plurality that signifies feminisms, not the singular. > I think I probably agree with these observations, but again, what _I_ >would want is for the community of the list as a whole to deal with the >logistics of maintaining this "certain kind of productivity," rather than >appealing to the technocrats to do it for us. > >> >I'm well aware that the limits of "pure tolerance" have not been tested >on french-feminism; in fact I often marvel at how civil and productive >our list discourse continues to be. So I'd say this is a point well-taken. > Baynard: After all, even anarchy is a system >> of production. And one not particularly like to coincide with a >> feminist agenda at that. I don't have a feminist 'agenda'. feminism is integral to any identity 'I' might be today and anarchy seems to me to be a humanist word for a free thinking radical. and i've always found the notion of agenda to be hopelessly linear- though practising (and sometimes missing) an anarchic approach to being always rubs against the necessity for agendas, political action etc. one always juggles whilst walking the tightrope. it is probably good for the spine. > Judith: rather to suggest the >possibility of conceiving a feminism that doesn't appeal to or derive >itself from transcendentals. I am very new to email conventions. Hopefully I have not missed any terribly important ones. I am involved with the Electronic Writing and Research Ensemble, styling writing/visuals for the site in general and working on a project called Tableau...always changing and quite new. Selbo. regards, and thanks for the fab list, ti > > > > --- from list french-feminism-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- --- from list french-feminism-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
