Thought I'd post my reply to the list, since others may want to know about this. Yes, anyone may sub*scribe to WMST-L; it's a moderated list, so "inappropriate" or off-topic postings are screened out before making it to the list at large. It's devoted primarily to issues of _teaching_ and _studying_ women's studies, so it's not a forum for discussion of general women's issues. And it's high volume, so it offers a digest option, which is the way I personally subscribe. To join the list, send a message to listserv-AT-umdd.umd.edu that leaves the subject line blank, and in the body of the message says sub*scribe wmst-l <yourfirstname yourlastname> (without the * and filling in your own name, no brackets) You'll get a welcome message that tells you more about the list, and gives instructions for changing your subscription status to digest, if that's what you want. I highly recommend it as a way of keeping up with cfps, job notices, and current issues in academic women's studies.
