this may not be exactly what you are looking for, but check out Jean Gabel's
False Consciousness: An Essay on Reification.  He departs from 'orthodox'
Marxism, but does align himself with Lukacs' views on ideological
'distortion.'  Of course Lukacs and Marx and Engels' German Ideology may
prove helpful as well.
