I see wht you mean David but this is not anything related to what I've read
by JH, but I think it has a good connexion with Critical theroy as it
applies to systems. Within systems there must be a combination of issues
that adress the system participants, dividing them into 'those that do' and
'those who get done to'. Now for the latter group critical theory suggests
that there should be at least some emacipation and I guess it mus tbe the
groups perception of emancipation, these could be (for example):
1. that emancipation from drugs is desirable, tests are desirable
2. emancipation from drug-taking colleagues is desirable, tests are desirable
3. that tests inhibit emancipation, tests must go
4. management uses these tests as a control over the whole group, tests must go

I wonder why they test? If I go to the States to do my PhD will I get
tested? Willthis violate my human rights? Will I feel enlightened by such
this system or will my level of emancipation deteriorate? From the sound of
the article I should only eat/drink minimum quantities of fruit and water.

Since in Australia and New Zealand this is a foreign issue we are least
informed about this issue, maybe some people within the system could
provide a perspective?
