Well the literature on W. Benjamin is vast, but for an introductory
contextualization I would recommend the standard histories of the FS, like
Martin Jay's or the one by Rolf Wiggershaus. There is Habermas' famous essay
on Benjamin, "Bewusstmachende oder Rettende Kritik" which is in his
_Philosophical Discourse of Modernity_. Or: Eugene Lunn's _Marxism and
Modernism_, David Held's book on critical theory (I can't remember how much
he goes into WB), Russell Berman's _Modern Culture and Critical Theory_. THen
most of these books have extensive bibliography as well. As I say, this is
only the beginning.
