Subject: HAB: Nations and Capital

Recently Habermas has turned his attention to the issue of
immigration - however, to my knowledge, most of his thoughts have
not yet been translated. I was wondering if anyone wanted to start a
discussion about the free flow of people across borders as well as
capital. It seems to me that if money is allowed to flow effortlessly
across borders (such as in free trade agreements) - so should people
be allowed to roam where they please?

Furthermore - what other options exist for nation-states? With
rampant nationalism being one of the most disturbing trends since
the French Revolution - what other forms of political organization
might further democratic impulses while at the same time provide
the stability, social integration, and coherency necessary for meeting
 long-term and short-term human needs?

What vision of citizenship might assist this? What vision of human
rights?
