To get a grasp of Habermas, read Legitimation Crisis, The New Conservatism,
and read thoroughly the Theory of Communicative Action.  If you follow up with
the secondary literature from the references in those books, you will be well
on your way.  Habrmas gets deep and many others take issue with him.  If you
look into his debates over the years
you will understand much.
