Warm thanks to Guillermo Hoyos Vsquezand Jeremy Shapiro. The translation from
the Mueller-Vollmer is by Jerry Dibble from Habermas's text "Der
Universalitatsanspruch der Hermeneutik" in Hermeneutik und Ideologiekritik. My
understanding is that this essay also appears in the more recent
(german) editions of On the Logic of the Social Sciences. In any event, I'm
left without the german text (although probably not for long) and an english
translation I don't quite trust (the credits cite Habermas's first book being
Communication and the Evolution of Society [1962] trans. 1979 and Knowledge and
Human Interets as being translated in 1976). Both of which did little more
than make me cry/laugh (why are bibliographies so difficult to do correctly?).

In any event, part of the essay I'm interested in can be found in Inquiry 13, 3
"On Systematically Distorted Communication" (reprinted in several places) and,
I think, Continuum 8. I was wondering if anyone knew of a full english
translation of the text "On Hermeneutics' Claim to Universality" aside from the
one in the Mueller-Vollmer volume...

Thanks again,
ken
