I read the Habermas chapter already and it is excellent. He is critical, and points out certain "contradictions" in Habermas political stance in Germany, but overall it is extremely insightful. So, I recommend it highly. The book in Question is Jan-Werner Mueller__Another Country: German Intellectuals, Unification and National Identity__ (Yale UP, 2000) One of the merits of Mueller's chapter is that it traces back to the early fifties, and even earlier, the notion of constitutional patriotism. I also want to recommend: Chris Thornhill__Political Theory in Modern Germany: An Introduction (Polity, 2000) This has excellent chapters on Habermas, but also Luhmann, Schmitt, Weber, and Neumann and Kirchheimer. --- from list habermas-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
