To Ken & others,

Yes, "The Liberating Power of Symbols: Philosophical Essays" is a translation of "Vom sinnlichen Eindruck zum symbolischen Ausdruck" (Frankfurt, 1997). It is a collection of short essays written between 1990 and 1995. They are comments to various philosophers, mainly from Germany:
- Ernest Cassirer (liberating power of symbols)
- Karl Jaspers (conflicts between cultures)
- Georg Henrik von Wright (between the traditions)
- Gershom Scholem (Sabbatai Zwi)
- Karl-Otto Apel (hermeneutics)
- Johann Baptist Metz (anamnetic reason)
- Michael Theunissen (communicative freedom and negative theology)
- Alexander Kluge (Lessing prize for Kluge - a German movie director)
