Hello Gary,

I like the distinction you have drawn here between defeasibility and 
fallibilism. It's far more optimistic (or something like that) in its 
outlook.

A post of mine from a couple of weeks ago expressed a disappointment in JH's 
work if the fallibilism held out more for a sort of nihilism and providing 
an escape route from critical appraisal.

You stated in another post I think that JH rarely talked openly of his 
fallibilistic method. Do you have the Honneth & Joas collection 
_Communicative Action_ at hand? There is a good discussion of this issue in 
reply to Schnadelbach (I think) on about p233 of the english translation 
c1992 (?)
