thanks for your responses. My original unease stemmed from the uncertainty 
(I still have) over whether Habermas's _BFN_ is designed to state what *is*, 
what *should* be or what *could* be !!!

My discomfort probably stems from being too monotonal in terms of expecting 
that theory construction can only be ONE thing or another. His methodology 
is what makes Habermas such an intriguing theorist to this reader at least.
