Sad to read this, since you and I wrote back and forth to the HAB
list on your reading, for days, and I gave you a lot of time,
addressing your reading of specific text passages, line by line.
Your "problem" was a misreading of Habermas.

In today's posting, you mistake issues of education for something
elitist. I'm not going to get into another line-by-line response, but
you really do live by a hermeneutics of suspicion.

I knew that anything written to you about religion would cause
lengthy response, not that I was provoking you. I don't disagree with
your sociology of the Church, but that was not the issue you raised
earlier, to which I was responding. The main point of Protestantism
was to differentiate Christianity from the Church--to get back to the
roots of Christianity, which are not Roman in any way. If you want to
talk about "roots", as you mentioned earlier, then your comments
today about the Church are beside the point. The roots shared by
Christianity and Islam TODAY, are not matters of the 4th century
Church.

Best regards,

Gary
