I am genuinely interested in Habermas's works, particularly in an
'everyday' sense of applicable, universal ethics, but I also appreciate
his work in it's own right as modern philosophy that I see in a certain
context, as related to certain philosophical traditions.

What I don't appreciate is a lack of diversity in views and uses of JH
on this list.

I consider my own political perspective to be moderate, fairly centrist
as American politics goes, and to my sensibility most of the discussion
here is dominated by extreme Left-wing perspectives.

This seems especially unfortunate to me when the most hopeful aspect of
JH's work seems to be it's universiality and purpose of achieving
grounds on which any dialogue can take place.

Rather than seeing JH's theory as a framework for discussion, many of
the Left here seem only to appropriate it as another weapon of critique
against whomever they feel like deconstructing.
