"most people fail to realize that some of the norms they are following are invalid" WITHIN THE FRAME OF OUR THEORY. "when these people are asked to justify the norms," WITHIN THE FRAME OF OUR THEORY "they become violent and conflict begins." Habermas's theory, like all critical social theory, is a tool-to-be-applied, not a reflection of 'how things really are'. Theory should work as an extension, a compliment, an intersubjective-mediation-only framework when it comes to pre-and-post-modern 'irrationality'. Theory should not try to displace a person's experientially subjective, private worldview.
