Subject: Re: HAB: lessons in Power, Sharon's latest production

Mais oui mon brave, but I think you'll find that there is a REAL world out there
beyond the patisseries of the rive gauche. The Gallic obsession with arcane
intellectual curiosities, from existentialism through deconstruction, has been the
grande folie, the bete noire, of European politics since 1968. Dumain's pique is
merely the latest in an interminable sequence of trahisons des clercs which shows
no sign of abating. The Gaulloise-puffing aesthetes and poseurs who wince at the
crude faux pas of actually discussing the REAL struggles of the REAL world should
stop their bureaucratic inspections of "qualifications" and let us know exactly
what gave them the droit de siegneur to impose their own officious, pen-pushing,
form-filling, paper-shuffling, beaujolais-swilling, croissant-nibbling,
garlic-munching, Johnny Halliday-loving, bongo-playing, jouissance-lusting,
bottom-pinching standards on the rest of us.

Cheers,

David Hawkes
