Matthew,

Likewise disappointed that Gary has unsubscribed. Over the last three years Gary's generous comments have greatly assisted me in progressing my understanding of Habermas's work.

As you probably are aware of Gary moderates a Habermas group at www.yahoo.com

follow the index link to groups and search on Habermas. At last count I think there were 51 members. Gary has moved on to a very nice neighbourhood :-). At other times I felt Gary's powerful presence on the List and intransigence intimidated some from contributing. In other words the shadow Gary's expertise cast may have hindered some of us struggling plants fror growing in confidence. Y'know, every cloud etc.

The tone of this List has changed and dramatically so since 9/11. As I wrote a few weeks ago we are fortunate to have Gary's Yahoo group as a more scholarly alternative resource. This Spoons List has changed over the last 18 months to a more robust and diverse venue for discussion which hopefully at least continues to take its cue from Habermas's work. It's up to contributors to keep drawing the List back to this agenda should it stray too far.

Looking fwd. to a fruitful new year of a wide range of Habermas subjects.

Regards,
