Couldn't you ask something easy like how many angels can fit onto the head of a pin :-)

> what could under any circumstances be an "understanding" between victim and predator? ...is it unreasonability to stick at justice and retribution? ...can these be finessed? ...and would such a thing constitute enlightenment?

I might take a moral Fifth on this one. If you are asking me do I blame (in the sense of not understand) Palestinian suicide bombers from wanting to kill as many Israelis as possible, or Islamic *terrorists* who believe they are justifiably acting out of a sort of self defence against the imperial interference of the West in their region, then - of course - the answer has to be "no".

Sure it's the old catch cry of terrorism: no one is innocent. I suppose what 9/11 and Bali is telling the peoples of the West is that we should actively work to ensure our political/corporate masters pull our heads in and stop trying to extend the reach of finance capital (pax americana) into places where it is clearly not wanted. As well stop supporting Israel. Do you see it happening?

Oil oh oil...how things would be so different. The Middle East could be left alone by the West to stew happily in the juices of its ancient religious/sectarian rivalries whilst us secular children of the enlightenment could get on with being rich.
