Re: Bob Scheetz, "germans v americans" Mr. Scheetz, I'm glad you responded, really. --- bob scheetz <rscheetz-AT-cboss.com> wrote: GD: The comment that is causing me to reply and to which I'd like others' feedback is this: BS>... so i think it'd be a distinct favor to all us phil amateurs if gary davis & co would go back to their elite academic yahoo list and e-journal. GD: If I consider others' postings to the HAB list over time as the measure of what "all us" think, then I know that Mr. Scheetz speaks inaccurately. But I want to hear from others about this (special address indicated below). I was anyway inclined to work via a Website and invite response via this list when I said earlier that I was going to work with _Truth & Justification_ "online". I didn't say earlier that I was going to do that via the HAB list. But I don't know. Is others' silence tacit consent? (apart from a vocal minority) If you object to extended discussion of _Truth & Justification_ via the HAB list, let me know off-list. Thanks. Please reply to <gedavis2-AT-yahoo.com> with "HAB" as part of your subject line. Thanks. Mr. Scheetz refers to the "elite academic yahoo list," which implies that he's been keeping up with it. Thanks! But I consider THIS list the academic one, which is why I posted my reading interest to the Spoons list, and not also to the Yahoo! list. I started the list as (1) a means for persons in the mall who wouldn't otherwise find the Spoons list (The Yahoo! group page links to Mathieu Deflem's site); (2) a forum overtly oriented to persons new to Habermas' work; and (3) a place for Spoons subscribers to pursue current events from a Habermasian perspective, presuming that most subscribers aren't subscribing in order to witness extended exchanges about others' opinions about current events. It appears, though, that the "co" of "gary davis & co" are the few members of both lists who usually post about their ongoing engagement with Habermas' work. So, Mr Scheetz evidently just wants to subscribe to a non-Habermasian list. -------------------------------- Against my own better judgment, perhaps, I want to respond briefly to the remainder of Mr. Scheetz's posting: BS> i remember the treatment accorded prof raul rodriguez, ...perceiving his apparent english insufficiency,.... GD: That's a misperception. If you'd like to pursue this particular issue again, I'm willing, as long as you aren't rude (Your present posting is quite rude to my ears). But I don't believe that many others would care to see your sense of treatment of anything pursued. In any case, please be reasonable (and evidentiary) about your claims. Thanks. BS>... the ferocious malice and lying by gary davis & co GD: The malice is yours, Mr. Scheetz, and the sense of "ferocious" especially. I believe that you're presently lying. BS>... it's a bit hard to seriously engage platonic ideals ... GD: You seriously engage online? I'm sorry, really; I'm not aware of that. I mistakenly thought you only posted sarcastic barbs without pretext of validity claims. I will read with new eyes, truly, and see what time tells. >....not to mention the chronic nausea provoked by the seeming perpetual mutual licking & stroking. G: Feeling appreciation for other's time and contributions is alien to you? That's saddening. Gary --- from list habermas-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
