Subject: Re: [HAB:] germans v americans Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2003 03:20:14 +0000 Bob, good to hear from you. My comments were very much self-conscious, and not to reflect on anyone else who contributes in whatever mode or manner of writing. My list of *notables* also was not intended to be comprehensive, and I probably omitted many *real* (as in academic) contributors such as Professor Rodriguez. Apologies to whoever may feel aggrieved by any oversight. The post was very much relative to Gary's discussion of Habermasian academics and/or experts and I wasn't aware Prof. Rodriguez's *specialty* was Habermas. The majority of Raul's posts were links and *calls to action* if I remember, but I will check the archives. Plenty of us posted some *noise* post-911; pleased to see things have moved on. >as a authentic german-american my only problem with the list is that i >remember the treatment accorded prof raul rodriguez, ...perceiving his >apparent english insufficiency, the ferocious malice and lying, by gary >davis & co. and while scholarship must perforce bear its quota of these >types, outside those narrow bounds, it's a bit hard to seriously engage >platonic ideals in company with such, ------------------- There's a bit of misreading here. Speaking for myself (and not Gary), I thought Gary's post supported what you appear to be describing as *amateur*. >so i think it'd be a distinct favor to all us phil amateurs if gary davis & >co would go back to their elite >academic yahoo list and e-journal.
