The issues selected by journalists overtly and especially covertly have much to be desired. It is not simply a scandal marked arena, but it actively promotes and exacerbates scandals, hence it is antagonistic. Violations that are really outrageous are structured and presented for their own self-interests, minutiae and irrelevancy is amplified often at the cost of serious quality of life issues. The media takes for granted issues of communication which are contentious and merely sustains a cult of personality. Authoritarianism is a problem in the US, but it is so everywhere. Many people act as if they are threatened and project their aggression in domination rituals. It is everywhere.
