Subject: RE: polemos, Staendigkeit, violence

Cologne, 5 August 1996

Tom Blancato quotes me:

"Could the "nonviolence" often referred to by Tom Blancato be brought into
some relation with encliticality, to a sense of
not-standing-of-itself-in-its-own-limits? Or are we Westerners ineluctably
ex-posed to the destiny of being's call to stand? Are we thus as
Westerners ineluctably violent? (Why shouldn't we be?)"

And responds:
--- "Western Civilization? I think it should be tried." -- M. K. Gandhi

In which court? In which (essencing of) truth? Within which understanding of
being? Under the influence of which mood of being?
Or perhaps (Ghandi meant, or the way things are shaping up today in India):
maybe it should just be tried (out).
