From: "Eugene Pavlov" <pav-AT-matrix.ru> Subject: Sein und Seiendes Date: Sat, 14 Feb 1998 12:09:17 +0300 Dear everyone I am following (or should I say trying to follow) your discussion, I am not a professional philosopher (not even close to it) and it is pretty hard (but quiet interesting) for me to understand many of your ideas, but... the reason I subscribed to this list was to find support in my reading of SuZ which was translated into Russian (and I am Russian). Lately I found German ed. in the library and looked at some passages that I could really get in Russian. If anyone would care to explain one passage to me I would thankful (even though I understand that that might not be as interesting as Husserl-Heidegger discussion). The passage is from page 27 (par. 7) - Die Abhebung des Sein vom Seienden und die Explikation des Seins ist Aufgabe der Ontologie. I have two questions - Why MH is saying that there a need for Abhebung des Sein vom Seienden? What terms do you English-speakers have for Sein and Seienden? Does die Abhebung is in any way related to Hegel's das Aufheben (in Russian it looks like - terms are close in meaning)? If any German would explain the difference (linguistic, not philosophical) between Sein and Seienden, that would be great. Are there any Greek terms behind Sein and Seiendes?
