Robert, everyone knows how stodgy the Germans are. But they are also 
Americanized to a large extent. So we have stodgy slang?

I love your inventive translation of Earworm.
"Aehre" in German is the ear of wheat, not the ear to hear, so Aehreworm would 
be something like wheat-worm, not an Ohrwurm.

Germans do not talk about cauliflower ears, but they do have a penchant for 
potato noses.

Re Michael Staple's missive: yes, it's currently quiet on the list. I for one am 
inundated with work at the moment.
