Language is indeed self-referring, and tends therefore to be another solus ipse or "egoistical solipsism", as Heidegger calls it. However, language as saying (German "Sage" from "sagan": showing, letting appear, letting see and hear) is in essence appropriating-showing. It sets itself aside in favour of what it shows.
