And your pointing out the ontological difference helps too, Henry. The German has the phrase "der Stimmung Herr werden", which can indeed be rendered as "mastering its mood", but the vernacular German is not a strong as that. "einer Situation Herr werden" can mean simply "cope with a situation" or "get on top of a situation". In factical situations there is no other choice than for Dasein to try to "get on top" of its mood, but it may, just as well, factically fail to cope. And, ontologically, Dasein can never get on top of its moodedness, since it is its essential metaphysical condition: being is always already disclosed to it as a whole in some way or other, i.e. Dasein is always already thrown/cast into the world.
