For Micheal S. and I as psychologists trying to work out the implications of Heidegger's work for psychotherapy this is an important issue. I want to make sure that my reading of your comments and interpretation of this important idea as I would apply them psychologically correspond to your understanding of heidegger as a whole. I would be interested in Micheal E's comments on this also. Please forgive my use of more psychological terminology which may not do heidegger's language justice. If I understand this passage in its full context, Dasein's mood is an aspect of it's throwness in its situation. As such, it has the potential for being revealatory of this situation. Could we say that moodedness is a primordial interpretation of dasein's situation which Dasein can use to gain clearing and understanding of its situation. Dasein using its understanding of its situation through its mood can then take an active part in responding and changing one's situation which would then lead to a shift in mood. I think the applications of this for psychotherapy are clear. This is an outline of the formulation but will get us started as its time for me to enter the Mitwelt with my next patient.
