Effectively speaking, you may well be "language impaired", but it is
always worthwhile to watch the attributions you may make, who knows, maybe
you are not as "impaired" as you think. Maybe you could learn language in
another way that has not occurred to you, which would make it much
easier and more effective. Of course, the likes of Chomsky will give you
to attribute it all to some built-in mechanism and your age. As for a
dictionary, I go to a lot of used book shops and now have several French
one's, some old, from a period when I entertained the idea of learning
French, until I figured I just didn't have the energy for it. The same is
the case for German. If and when I have the energy for it, I'll definitely
remember your very sensible advice. The idea of an *older* dictionary is
really very good, and I would never have thought of that. Your offer to
send me one is especially sensible and also very nice. Thanks for thinking
of going out of you way. I think if more people thought like that, in that
kind of direction, about all sorts of things, the world would be a better
place.
