I've been reading the list for awhile. Occasionally stimulating, usually way
over my head. But I wonder if anyone could help me here.

I'm not a specialist in Heidegger, but the notion of Jemeinigkeit - which I
came across some years ago while reading Derrida - fascinates me. What place
do you think in-each-case-mineness has in Heidegger? How does it
determine/is it determined by our relationship towards death?

Specifically I am working on a piece about belonging, about the formation of
groups and the exclusion of others from those groups. I am particularly
interested in the social reflex which says, "Mind your own business, you
don't understand us" - a reflex which applies to individuals and societies,
which can apply to a wife-beater as well as a theocracy. Do you think
Heidegger's Jemeinigkeit offers any illumination for me here?

Thanks

David
