For  Cartesians, our essence is not being-there, but a metaphysical immaterial 
substance (a soul). So since in metaphysical philosophy, the nature or 
essence of a substance is independent of the social, then naturally Cartesians 
will counter your description of Dasein above. So the argument goes back to 
whether our essence is a metaphysical substance or being-there.
