Mike,
Do you know Cage's piece for film, entitled One (if I am not mistaken; it may 
have an exponent)? It shows just light and shadow.

You may find a couple of useful hints in a paper I have posted on "Heidegger's 
Hoelderling and John Cage" at the artefact website (Italian translation by 
Agostino Di Scipio to appear in opusculo-form in Rome, May 1999).
