His brilliant essays on Marx's theory of value were first published, not in Russian, but in English translation by Quebec anarchists in 1973!<< This isn't correct. I.I.Rubin was a professor of Marxist economics in the twenties and published three books between 1924 and 1930. He was arrested in 1930, imprisoned, accuesd of belonging to an organization that never existed, forced to "confess" and later murdered. Source: I.I. Rubin _Essays on Marx's Theory of Value_ Black Rose Books, Montréal, 1973 ISBN 0919618111 After 1930, of course, his books were no longer available in the USSR, and only re-emerged after May 1968 -- in English.
